I think it depends on where you're looking for ammo %26amp; guns. Everyone doesn't keeps bullets and guns in their homes %26amp; if they do (the average citizen) isn't going to keep a stock full of them. The only place that had them stocked was in the very first episode when the main character goes to the police station. The zombies are there are more likely to eat you than you are to find some place that's stocked with weapons. Would the risk of traveling to a military base or another police station be worth it if you 1) don't know if your gas can carry you that far and 2) if you can even get in to get the ammo and guns if it's there. So the risk might not be worth it.
And, like someone else said, there seemed to be a shortage of gasoline since everyone was trying to fill up their cars, and couple that with the fact that gas stations weren't getting anymore sent to them so they're bound to run out. It's not limitless. Gasoline is shipped in and sent on trucks to gas stations. If none is getting to the gas stations then the gas station will run out. You have millions of people trying to fill up their cars and no way for gas stations to get more gasoline... Supply %26amp; demand and the supply ran out while the demand was still high.

This actually gets addressed more in the graphic novels than it does in the show, but since the show hasn't progressed very much they may address it soon. When the outbreak occurred the first thing people went for was guns and ammo. Also, it was less of a priority for the group because they had thought they were fairly safe where they were camping, so they didn't think they needed much ammo. *EDIT: Additionally it's only really Glenn who goes out for supplies and he can't find any ammo shops in the city that have any of those. END EDIT* The gas wasn't much of an issue either because they weren't planning on leaving. HOWEVER,

How come some people get eaten almost completely? (meaning no body left to wander in a Zombie state) and others only get bitten (and thus turn to walking dead). Take Sophia for example. Others, like Otis, who can't run, get all eaten.
That is actually a good point but maybe she was just scratched first and then when the zombie started to bite her neck she turned into a zombie so she was no longer tempting...or maybe she turned into a zombie a lot faster than what was expected and that is why it was only a bite...its just a suggest but you do have a good point that is hard to explain. She was alone and one of those zombies could have easily taken her down. Not until October, for 13 episodes of Season 2. People weren't sure how the viewers would respond to a zombie show and it became a big hit. But they only made those six to start with, so they're basically going into 2011 from scratch.

I was watching the first episode of the first season of Walking Dead and even though it's not that important, i was wondering: how come Rick had no idea about the zombies, giving the fact that before he got shot he saw all those corpses and killed that little girl?Question regarding season 1 of The Walking Dead?

Hmm. it's hard to explain. What happened after that scene when he had to shoot the little girl, it flashed back to before he got shot. So when you saw Rick and Shane talking in the police car and then getting the call and going off, that was all flashback to before the zombies, showing how it all started right before he ended up having to shoot the zombie girl - including him waking up in the hospital, finding the father and son and then putting on his sheriff uniform to go to Atlanta. I know it's probably confusing. Then when you see him looking for gas again (after he's left the father/son), it goes back to current time.

The first season was full of excitement. Something different happened in each episode. Now we are 4 episodes into this season and nothing new is going on. The girl is still mising, carl is still recovering from the gunshot, they have been in the same place for 4 episodes. Why is it so boring?Who else thinks the walking dead new season sucks?
Season 2, Episode 1 was excellent. you had the zombie heard, Rick saving the girl, their efforts to find the girl, fighting zombies and Carl getting shot,etc.
Episode 2 was very good too.
The last couple of episodes though are all yap yap yap about their relationships.

I agree, I am an avid zombie guy. I spent some years in the Army, did two tours in Iraq, I am currently in Law Enforcement. Yes beating the street as a newly minted Alaskan Cop. In High School I thought I wanted to be in medicine, so I took lots of biology, Anatomy and Physiology classes. So Episode 1 Rick says, "Make sure you got a round in the chamber and the safety off" To all of his guys who are holding Glocks. Glocks don't have a safety, and find me a Cop anywhere in America who doesn't have a round already chambered. 2 Shane keeps holding on to this 12 Gauge Mossberg shotgun with a 7 round capacity, all the while they have passed by 1,000 dead Soldiers whose M4's are sitting on the ground. Now tell me do you want 7 shots of knockdown power and to take the time to pump it, or 30 rounds of precision fire? Anatomically speaking these zombies would be dried into something like beef jerky within just a few days of turning but our zombies continue to be moist and full of fresh looking blood, instead of gooey coagulated dead people blood. If zombies tried to run their dried up muscle tissue would just sorta fall right off the bone and they'd be losing limbs left and right. I am at the point where we only watch this because my Wife likes the soap opera type story between Shane and Rick's Wife who is now apparently knocked up. We haven't seen Merle, and the little girl is still missing. But there is plenty of infighting and secrets and It's just the O.C. with an occasional zombie.Who else thinks the walking dead new season sucks?
AMC cut the budget by a third. Wanted more "indoors" stuff. They network felt they had to do that to keep Mad Men--a show with more awards, but a third of the viewership. The problem is money. Right before Darabont was fired he was desperately re-cutting what they shot to make it more watchable. You can't polish a turd. Especially when it's an overly-verbal action/horror show.
if you dont know the point of the walking dead, its to represent a more realistic side of a zombpocalypse, one in which emotions are quite present.
if youre looking for a zombie killfest, grab one of the other hundred zombie movies and shows. keep the walking dead for us people wanting a true drama.

Glocks don't have a safety, and find me a Cop anywhere in America who doesn't have a round already chambered. 2 Shane keeps holding on to this 12 Gauge Mossberg shotgun with a 7 round capacity, all the while they have passed by 1,000 dead Soldiers whose M4's are sitting on the ground. Now tell me do you want 7 shots of knockdown power and to take the time to pump it, or 30 rounds of precision fire? Anatomically speaking these zombies would be dried into something like beef jerky within just a few days of turning but our zombies continue to be moist and full of fresh looking blood, instead of gooey coagulated dead people blood. If zombies tried to run their dried up muscle tissue would just sorta fall right off the bone and they'd be losing limbs left and right. I am at the point where we only watch this because my Wife likes the soap opera type story between Shane and Rick's Wife who is now apparently knocked up. We haven't seen Merle, and the little girl is still missing. But there is plenty of infighting and secrets and It's just the O.C. with an occasional zombie.Who else thinks the walking dead new season sucks?
AMC cut the budget by a third. Wanted more "indoors" stuff. They network felt they had to do that to keep Mad Men--a show with more awards, but a third of the viewership. The problem is money. Right before Darabont was fired he was desperately re-cutting what they shot to make it more watchable. You can't polish a turd. Especially when it's an overly-verbal action/horror show.
if you dont know the point of the walking dead, its to represent a more realistic side of a zombpocalypse, one in which emotions are quite present.
if youre looking for a zombie killfest, grab one of the other hundred zombie movies and shows. keep the walking dead for us people wanting a true drama.

He's had enough of the BS idiocy from all these other people. Honestly, keeping Walkers locked up in some old rickety barn? They were a threat and he stopped the idiocy.
Continuing to keep searching for Sophia was noble, but after so many days, it's almost a certainty she was dead or lost permanently. And he turned out to be right about that.
Even his shooting of Otis was what had to be done, otherwise 3 people would have died that night, instead of 1. Shane, Otis and Carl would have all died if not for sacrificing Otis.
Herschel just ain't dealing with reality. Rick and Dale want to do the moral things. Shane is the one willing to do what needs to be done to survive.
If I were in that group, I'd be listening to Shane a whole lot more and less to Rick.

It's the most amazing thing ever. I love zombie movies so getting to tune into a series once a week to get my zombie fix is great. First, you need to watch Season 1 immediately. Even with just six episodes, it was probably the best first season for any regular cable horror series. Even as the show progresses, season 1 will, without a doubt, be regarded as the shows best season.
I started watching at the beginning of season two and went back and watched the previous season to clarify the story so far. While I won't say season two is disappointing, it will eventually be 13 episodes, versus only 6 from the first one but, the pace was much slower this season. I'm hoping things pick up for the second half of this season. With Frank Darabont leaving the show, writing staff changes and budget cuts it was kind of inevitable that the show would suffer a bit. Not to discredit this season so far but, season 1 was pretty brilliant in comparison.
Anyway, the cause of the outbreak was never revealed and probably never will be. The final episode in season one has some insight into the transformation into a walker as well as a secret shared with Rick that he has not yet revealed possibly about the cause, which may later be touched upon.
However, the purpose of the story, unlike some other zombie series, is more about the aftermath of it all, rather than the cause. Civilization as they know it has ended, and there is little hope from what they have seen for people actively understanding and researching a reason/cure for it - most doctors, scientists are dead at this point at least in their vicinity.
The focus is more on the struggle to survive at this point and people's attempts to get along with each other is a post-apocalypse zombie world.

Is there an overall plot to The Walking Dead?
Aside from the ongoing character drama. I'm on volume two, and it doesn't seem to be leading anywhere. I don't want it to be like Y: The Last Man where I read 90% of it before realizing what a big ******* waste of time it is.Is there an overall plot to The Walking Dead?
The character drama is the point. The story is about a zombie apocalypse that has happened, but no one knows the origin of the outbreak.
I'm not sure what else you want though dude. Y the last man was awesome. As is The walking dead and Preacher. All 3 are getting TV shows or movies. They are all 3 immensely popular and well written.

I watched the whole season 1 on my computer and i dont want to this year.When does the Walking Dead Season 2 Premiere come on?
the walking dead season 2 already premiered sunday night at 9 pm, in the U.S.
depending upon your location it might be different.
i watched it, and it was great, i love it.

I would like zombie graphic novels only, but vampires or demons might be cool too. Does anyone know of any zombie graphic novels like the Walking Dead series?
Marvel Zombies springs to mind, there aren't really many comics about zombies, its more of a modern fascination. 30 Days of Night is an exceedingly decent comic about vampires.
IDW did a number of Zombie like books Remains being the one that comes to mind the easiest for me.
They also did a comic version of the original Dawn of the Dead movie... Pretty good book, but just not the same without the 70's soundtrack from the Goblins in the background.
There was also a Graphic Novel called 28 days later that went along with the movie (kind of a prequel comic.)
Dark Horse put out two collections of the zombie world storys...
There is a series of books called Zombie Tales, though I am not sure if they have been released in a trade.
Some others that I am not sure if they have been collected are:
Black gas
Black Gas 2
Last Christmas
War of the Undead
ZMD (zombies of Mass Destruction)
A company called Avatar has an ongoing range of zombie comics based on the Night of the livivng dead world... But to me those are more about drawing naked girls then good zombie stories...
As far as full text books go, if you havent I would highly recomend reading the Monster Trilogy (Monster Island Nation and World)
as well as World War Z.

As I recall, the material from the comic moves pretty quickly from the roving group that Rick and his family are now in to a stationary settlement, the first of many.
** SPOILER ALERT **
Based on the most recent episode, the reason Shane is still around is- and I want to reiterate, this might reveal too much, so don't read on unless you really don't care- that they want to vilify him for awhile before he dies. In the show, he doesn't really seem so bad, but in the comic he's bad enough that a ten-year-old has no trouble shooting him dead. The writer is still dealing with the ongoing ramifications of what this kid has done, and film is very different from comics. Though told with pictures, a lot depends on the reader's imagination. In the comics, it wasn't hard to see Shane as the bad guy, but one look at him in the show's first episode had me thinking: Is this guy really that bad? So far, the answer has been no.
But last night I watched Shane do something truly despicable. I can see him turning into a man who might one day need killing.
What this means, of course, is that they're taking their time with the show, and telling the story in a way that is right for film. .
Only time will tell if things happen the same as they have in the comic.The walking dead show and comic contradictions?

Question about The Walking Dead and every zombie movie ever!?
I'm sitting here watching the premier of the walking dead season 2 and about half the premier episode is based on not shooting so the zombies won't hear it. Now my question is, has any of these directors or producers ever heard of a silencer or suppressor for a gun? I'm just thinking about all the zombie movies I've seen and I don't think that I've seen any movie where some one has a silenced gun. I don't get it, that would be one of my top priorities in a zombie apocalypse.Question about The Walking Dead and every zombie movie ever!?
That's an interesting question, but I don't think it would be there first instinct. Most people would be panicking and freaking out about loved ones trying to eat their flesh rather than a silencer for a gun. I think it would be more of a second thought, like "oh, a silencer would be super handy right now." Plus, like the people above me said, it would be extremely hard to find one.
Well, zombie survival movies are all about a relative amount of believe-ability; what would you do if something like this were to ACTUALLY occur? I think in the name of a realistic film, it's more relatablefor normal, average people to not just happen to have a silencer on them, as people have already pointed out. The issue of availability has already been sufficiently addressed as well. While I'm not sure why they don't incorporate the idea in some way or another, the fact that it is missing is not entirely hard to believe. (Although I agree, after the initial shock, one would probably become numb to the invasion and start to approach it as any other life or death situation, in which I assume one would also suss out all of his/her best chances of survival.)
Also, probably one of the simplest answers would be, it just wouldn't be nearly as fun to watch a bunch of people constantly outsmart the zombies, there would be no more element of suspense with silencers.Question about The Walking Dead and every zombie movie ever!?

I agree with halfway on this one. Its good. I highly enjoy it and am left in suspense.. but its more of a soap opera right now. We saw like... maybe 5 minutes combined of zombies. I actually kinda like it that way now.. but i hope (and i think next episode.. whatever a season mid finally is) there will be ridiculous zombie explosions.
Its good, i really enjoy the direction they are going with it, but its not so much zombie killing anymore. Maybe they are just getting the characters and relationships setup for the next season. This could be.

People like you are so annoying, the comic books have ALWAYS been more about the drama that goes on between the humans than the actual zombies. The zombies are just hurdles, their real problems are desperately trying to survive in a world that's gone to **** and dealing with other unpredictable survivors. The Governor was the biggest threat ever to the group in the comic books, he did more damage to them than the zombies have done in all 91 issues. The walking dead will always be focused around the humans, get over it.

I really liked the first season because it was gory and exciting. The story wasn't anything new, but the feel was unique. The second season has been very disappointing. I have two favorite characters: Daryl and Glenn, but Daryl just a tad bit more. I love Daryl because he's hotheaded, but he can still be logical, and he's the best at survival. I don't think he's prejudiced like his brother, if he were, he wouldn't have saved T Dog like he did. I also think he has a stronger moral compass than we're led to believe. I love Glenn because he's goofy and has fun, even though the world's turned to **** around them. (He was soooo excited to steal that nice car :P) He just takes away a little tension at the right moments.
I have no idea if they're going to bring the father and son back, but I hope they do because that's a story line that they would have just let die, and I feel like they sort of did that with Merle at the end of the first season. (Although I know they're bringing him back later in this season)What do you like most about The Walking Dead?
I initially started watching the show because the concept of a zombie apocalypse has always intrigued me, but once I got into it the characters are what really captured my interest. Unlike most zombie flicks this one didn't focus so much on the blood and gore aspect of it but what the characters go through and the decisions they make while living in such a world ravaged by death, a world with no guarantee of ever overcoming the undead. The people are mainly fueled by their love for one another, and like any apocalyptic world each other is all that matters. I love that, especially since in the real world we live in it seems that material objects are coming before the people we care about. We take advantage of the fact that those people will always be there, the characters from the walking dead have learned to live with the fact that the people they've learned to care for might not always be around but the time they spend with them now is what matters.
Though I like every character in the show in their own way, I especially like Glenn. His past is much of a mystery and so far as we know everyone he knows is dead, yet he remains to be one of the most hopeful and uniting individuals within the group.
I also like Daryll, aside from the fact that he can be an asshole. I like him because he has purpose. He knows how to get things done when no one can admit to themselves that this is what has to be in order to survive. For example: The bitten Joe situation. While he might have been wrong to just outright kill the guy, he had it right in the fact that Joe was bitten and therefore a danger to everyone- he had to die. Daryll's relationship with his brother also seems very loyal and loving aside from the assholery side of it again. I always appreciate a good slightly dysfunctional sibling relationship.
My least favorite charcter is Ed, simply because he's a deuche and I'm glad he's dead. I'm also not all that much of a fan of Merl (I think that's how you spell it) even if I like Daryll.
As for Morgan and his son, I'm pretty sure they'll be back in the future if not this season. It all depends on whether they've gotten Rick's transmissions. I also think we'll be seeing Guierrmo again.

I have no idea if they're going to bring the father and son back, but I hope they do because that's a story line that they would have just let die, and I feel like they sort of did that with Merle at the end of the first season. (Although I know they're bringing him back later in this season)What do you like most about The Walking Dead?
I initially started watching the show because the concept of a zombie apocalypse has always intrigued me, but once I got into it the characters are what really captured my interest. Unlike most zombie flicks this one didn't focus so much on the blood and gore aspect of it but what the characters go through and the decisions they make while living in such a world ravaged by death, a world with no guarantee of ever overcoming the undead. The people are mainly fueled by their love for one another, and like any apocalyptic world each other is all that matters. I love that, especially since in the real world we live in it seems that material objects are coming before the people we care about. We take advantage of the fact that those people will always be there, the characters from the walking dead have learned to live with the fact that the people they've learned to care for might not always be around but the time they spend with them now is what matters.
Though I like every character in the show in their own way, I especially like Glenn. His past is much of a mystery and so far as we know everyone he knows is dead, yet he remains to be one of the most hopeful and uniting individuals within the group.
I also like Daryll, aside from the fact that he can be an asshole. I like him because he has purpose. He knows how to get things done when no one can admit to themselves that this is what has to be in order to survive. For example: The bitten Joe situation. While he might have been wrong to just outright kill the guy, he had it right in the fact that Joe was bitten and therefore a danger to everyone- he had to die. Daryll's relationship with his brother also seems very loyal and loving aside from the assholery side of it again. I always appreciate a good slightly dysfunctional sibling relationship.
My least favorite charcter is Ed, simply because he's a deuche and I'm glad he's dead. I'm also not all that much of a fan of Merl (I think that's how you spell it) even if I like Daryll.
As for Morgan and his son, I'm pretty sure they'll be back in the future if not this season. It all depends on whether they've gotten Rick's transmissions. I also think we'll be seeing Guierrmo again.

It's very hard to make a movie or tv show revolving around the living dead or zombies and to make it truly creative or original is even harder. Most films or tv shows based around this genre usually involve a small town, an oblivious hero, a group of towns people, and of course zombies. It's hard to make it original because there's only one thing you have to do if these situations were in fact true to life... survive. Survival is what's key in these kinds of films. Because survival is so basic and essential, trying to make it original will ultimately make it cliche.
Personally, I LOVE this show. It's not original or creative, but I just enjoy the survival aspect. It continues to make the viewer ask themselves, "What would I do if I were in that situation?" Which is what makes this type of show so addicting. Another thing I like about this show is that it really does make you feel what the character is feeling. ***SPOILER*** For instance, in the pilot episode when Morgan is faced with the decision to "kill" his zombie wife, he couldn't do it. He still sees his wife. Ask yourself, if that were your wife or your loved one, would you be able to do it? Honestly... I'd like to believe that I could, but it's a hard decision. At the same time during this scene when Sheriff Grimes goes to the park to find the half-body zombie crawling away in the park and he says, "I'm sorry this happened to you." and shot her in the head to end her "misery"... that was my all-time favorite sequence in the show. It shows compassion. He understands that this used to be a person. To most people they would just shoot to kill, but in this scene you really see him go through it in his mind that this "person" crawling through the park was once a living breathing human being and he really follows his rule of, "When you pull the trigger, you better mean it." I like how the directorchose to make the zombie look at him like she was asking to be killed rather than her trying to eat him, that was a beautiful scene. Most zombie films make you want the hero to just go balls out and kill every zombie on the screen. It makes you want to believe that zombies are animalistic. I think if this show had any originality, it's all in that sequence n the park.

The two minor ones are the fact that they have zombies doing things they can't do because they do not have working thinkers. One was from the first episode where the zombie tried the doorknob. The other was from the second episode where the zombie was beating on the window with the rock. Zombies do not have the ability to do these things. If they can problem solve and think they wouldn't eat people and just go get a steak dinner instead.
Other minor dislike is they move a bit to fast. It is sort of a speed walk, but I prefer classic zombies (the only zombies) where they slouch about.
Major dislike is in the second episode where I believe two or three zombies climb the fence. Zombies do not climb! A set of stairs can delay a zombie by hours they are so poor at climbing. AMC seems to be pushing the envelope though. Robert Kirkman (the creator) has stated he regretted killing off Shane so early in the comic. So, I really think Shane will be around for awhile.

How long should "The walking dead" comic series continue?
The comic series is a great comic and a great read with awesome climax's and twist and turns you couldn't predict as they kill characters off regularly but it hits a point every few books where it slows and and nothing happens for example the latest volume, volume #14. It builds up and builds up only to have an anti climactic ending that per preserves the series from ending and prolongs the true drama. How long should it go on? How should it get out of its ruts? How should it end?How long should "The walking dead" comic series continue?
One of the things I like most about it is that it doesn't end. The worst part about a Zombie movie is that eventually it ends. The Walking Dead is the only thing that tells you what happens to the entire world, and it just keeps going beyond that initial story. Personally, I think the Walking Dead should be like any serialized super-hero comic, and go on forever. You can even have it move in semi-real time. Eventually, Rick and Carl would get older, and eventually the book would be about Carl after Rick dies. Then you could have stories about the first generation of survivors that have only ever lived in the zombie world. It could get very interesting. If Kirkman is done, let someone else pick it up and run with it, just like any comic. Get new creative teams who have a good story to tell, and let the story keep going.

Here's my speculation.
The walkers in the barn will escape and go on a rampage. The group fends them off, but Herschel in an ironic twist is eaten by his walker wife.
The rest of the farm people decide merging with Rick's group is a good idea.
Daryl find Sophia, hungry and cold, but alive and unharmed. In gratitude, Sophia's mom quickly has sex with Daryl, as they've been sort of flirting with each other.
Laurie finds something else to fret or feel guilty about and Rick has another long talk with her about their relationship.
Glen's sex chick starts nagging him into being more assertive and taking a leadership role in the group.
T-Dog and Dale, feeling left out, having a deep conversation about their feelings.What do you think is going to happen next week on the Walking Dead?
Sophia will be found. Either dead, alive, or possibly as a walker. Considering the next episode after Sunday is on February 12th they will probably leave us with a nice cliffhanger. Maybe Sophia coming towards them as a walker or them killing her perhaps.

Hey, you gotta teach folks how to shoot. But it would have been more realistic to have armed guards posted keeping an eye out for Walkers thought.

Glen told the others about there being walkers in the barn then Maggie was mad at him. Shane kinda freaked out in front of everyone saying he didnt think they should look for Sophia anymore and he wanted to kill all the walkers in the barn.
Rick decided they could kill the walkers in the barn because they belonged to that farmer guy. Hershel's his name I think? Well Hershel decided to let everyone stay on his farm after Rick begged him and Maggie talked to him. So Rick went with Hershel to learn how to catch the walkers nearby and lead them to the barn where he kept them locked up.
Glen and Maggie made up and are together.
Dale told Andrea it wasnt a good idea to be with Shane. Then Dale stole the guns and tried to hide them because he knew Shane would try to kill the walkers in the barn which would put their stay in jepordy. Shane caught him though and took the guns back.
Shane talked to Lori about her pregnancy and asked if the baby was his but she said even if it was biologically his, it would never be his.

What would you do if you were in the situation of being hand cuffed to the roof. Would had waited for rescue or cut off your hand? I personally would of waited and attempted to take off the hand cuff.Who here is watching the new The Walking Dead series on AMC?
I thnk the makeup looks pretty good, as good as any other zombie makeup i've seen. And if I were Meryl, I would have cut off my thumb, not my whole hand... he's probably bleeding a lot and he was already starting to go kinda crazy and the loss of blood is not going to help, lol. really since the zombies are kinda slow he could have got the saw and waited to see if they broke thru the door, but since they could see him and smell him there maybe him getting free and going somewhere else (where ever he went) was what cause the zombies to leave too... since when the group gets there to save him there are no zombies at the door or in the stair well anymore.
The make-up is a little better than some movie make-up I've seen, especially that zombie torso person from the pilot.
Ep. 3 turned out pretty well, except it ended ^^. Someone informed me the show is based on a comic and pointed out Shane telling his friend's wife that he was dead wasn't part of the comics, though personally I don't like Shane.
