Why is The Walking Dead taking a midseason break?

anybody know if theres some kind of actual reason? or did they just want to take a break? Why is The Walking Dead taking a midseason break?
I think most series take midseason breaks. Probably because it's the holiday, people involved with the series such as cast and crew members would want to enjoy the season and take a vacation just like everybody else.
Part of it has to do with the upcoming holidays and part of it is because they want to show episodes during sweeps which take place 4 times a year and start back up one week before the next episode comes on and lasts through the entire month of February. Sweeps is a ratings period for the Nielsen ratings if you didn't know. 4 of the first 7 episodes in season 2 were shown during the first sweeps period of the year. Why is The Walking Dead taking a midseason break?
The same reason every other show takes a midseason break. People don't watch TV during the holiday season and ratings drop. There's no point in wasting new episodes during this time of year because it will just drag the ratings down. And in the case of serialized shows like The Walking Dead, people who joined the show in progress after the holidays would be lost and would probably just quit watching. Why is The Walking Dead taking a midseason break?
I don't know but I am getting damn sick of all the good shows taking 3 "midseason breaks." By the time they air again I can't even remember what happened in the last one. What ever happened to running new episodes all fall and reruns in the summer. These networks need to cut the crap and quit splitting their shows up, it makes them less entertaining.

What's worse, there will probably only be 2 more episodes of the walking dead this season, and we won't get to see them until April, how stupid is that?
